Essential Oils for Seasonal Allergies

Once again, the seasons are changing! You know what that means; longer, sunnier days, beautiful flowers blooming, and magnificent butterflies dancing in the air. One downfall, however, is those dreadful, inescapable seasonal allergies. There is nothing worse than suffering from a headache, watery eyes, or a running nose. Imagine experiencing all three of these annoyances all at once. Now, imagine being able to rid yourself of two out of three of the symptoms naturally! It's possible with essential oils for seasonal allergies!

How do seasonal allergies work?

Everyone’s body reacts differently to allergens. It’s how your body reacts that decides the occurrence and severity of allergies. The release of histamines in the body is what triggers the reactions. Histamines are basically a warning sign to your immune system, notifying it of any potential attackers and creating immediate inflammation. The first line of treatment for those pesky allergens are antihistamines, which counteract the effects of histamines. A diffuser for essential oils paired with the essential oils can be the perfect seasonal allergy fighting tool!Aromatherapy essential oil diffusers, such as the Radha Beauty 160ml Diffuser, can combat those symptoms and are the perfect addition to any room.

Which essential oils can help fight seasonal allergies?

Essential oils are key to reducing the effects of seasonal allergies. Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint Oil act as the perfect antihistamines to fight back. When I first feel the symptoms approaching, my first defense is Lavender Oil. Lavender oil has natural antihistamines properties that help prevent a violent reaction to the allergens, quickly eliminating any reaction.

Partnered perfectly with my lavender oil is Lemon Oil. It helps the body to increase blood circulation and clear the respiratory tract and sinuses. Lemon oil is best used in a diffuser or under sunscreen, as any citrus oil can increase sensitivity to sunlight. And if my allergies are really kicking my butt, it's Peppermint Oil to the rescue.  It helps loosens up the mucus accumulation in the sinuses and the airway, making it easy to cough out phlegm. It effectively clears up the respiratory tract, preventing secondary infections. You can always combine these three essential oils in your diffuser to maximize the benefits.

Allergies can be a huge bummer and can put a real damper on a beautiful summer day. Don’t let it anymore! There are so many great essential oils for seasonal allergies - try out these ideas to see what works for you. Now go enjoy this beautiful day!
