Essential Oils for Different Skin Types

Enhance your skin with Radha Beauty essential oils. Contrary to general belief, essential oils are not limited to scent alone. These potent essences can be used in cosmetics or skincare, supplying the skin with beneficial nutrients. Essential oils are primarily used in natural cosmetics and skincare due to their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

They also serve as natural preserving agents alongside their individual skin enhancing effects. Essential oils can also have a positive effect on the human organism. The fragrance derived from the oil affects the limbic system in the brain, which processes feeling. Therefore, not only will you look beautiful but have your mood-enhanced as well.

Check out these essential oils that can be added to your favorite moisturizer or carrier oil to keep your skin looking youthful, supple, and plump. As always, we do not recommend that you apply essential oils topically without dilution. It is recommended that you consult your dermatologist before using essential oils.

Anti-aging

Radha Beauty Rosemary Oil

Rosemary contains iron, calcium, and phytonutrients. Over-exposure to sunlight is one of the leading causes of photodamage, but the phytonutrients in rosemary are tough on sun crime. Rosemary oil can help protect skin cells from damage often caused by the sun and free radicals. Since it has natural antiseptic properties, it's a superior disinfectant for our skin and hair. In fact, this essential oil is known to promote a healthy, moisturized scalp and reverse premature graying.

Radha Beauty Frankincense Essential Oil

Ideal for all skin-types, aromatic Frankincense essential oil is known for helping with new cell growth, tightening the skin, and minimizing wrinkles. It will also even out your skin tone and reduce the appearance of annoying large pores.

Radha Beauty Patchouli Essential Oil

Patchouli Essential Oil is known for promoting new cell growth, smoothing out wrinkles, and minimizing fine lines. It’s packed with antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties, making it ideal for those who are also dealing with eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Dry Skin

Radha Beauty Lavender Oil

I know you’ve heard about lavender oil too many times in your life, but it’s a powerhouse essential oil and extremely accessible. If you’re having a severe dry-spell and need to grab something quickly at your local CVS or health food store, lavender is the one. It’s anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and extremely soothing, so it’ll calm your skin pretty quickly (and your mood too!). To use, mix a few drops of it into a carrier oil or a cream that you already have in your cabinet, and let it work its magic.

Radha Beauty Tea Tree Oil

This one might come as a surprise for some people, but tea tree oil is a wonderful treatment if you’re experiencing broken-out skin that is also dry. I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but one of the reasons your skin breaks out is because it’s dry. In response to the dryness, it overproduces oil, and that excess oil makes you break out. Tea tree essential oil works its magic without being overly drying and irritating like its synthetic counterparts (looking at you, benzoyl peroxide). Tea tree oil also helps fight mild to moderate dandruff.

Oily/Acne-Prone Skin

Radha Beauty Geranium Essential Oil

Derived from the sweet-scented Geranium flower, geranium EO works to improve and regulate oil production. Since geranium oil has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, when applied topically, it may be helpful for preventing the bacteria on your skin from entering your pores and causing breakouts.

Radha Beauty Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is one of the best essential oils for acne as well as for healing the skin. It is well-loved because it’s able to regulate oil production and has antibacterial properties that get rid of acne-causing bacteria.

Radha Beauty Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary EO is known for doing wonders for hair loss, but it’s also great for oily skin. This balancing essential oil has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that will take care of excessive oil, acne, whiteheads, and blackheads.

Combination Skin

Radha Beauty Geranium Essential Oil

Geranium oil is wonderful for balancing skin, whether it’s dry or oily. It’s helpful for moisturizing and promoting youthful skin. It has astringent-like properties which means it may help minimize wrinkles and fine lines and regenerate skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties may help minimize red, dry, and irritated skin as well.

Radha Beauty Frankincense Essential Oil

A truly amazing option that works on oily, dry, and combination skin, frankincense essential oil is growing in popularity because of its ability to restore skin that's damaged. It’s a cleansing astringent with anti-inflammatory properties that has shown effectiveness in treating infected wounds, irritation, and redness.

Radha Beauty Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender oil isn't just soothing for your mind; it offers the same benefits for your skin. Use lavender oil for skin to help reduce redness, blotchy patches, and acne scarring. It’s able to calm stressed-out skin, reduce acne and fight wrinkle-causing free-radicals.

How do I use essential oils on my skin?

Now that you know which essential oils are best for your skin type and concerns, enhance away! However, always be sure that you dilute any essential oil when using topically. When mixing with a carrier oil, we recommend a 2:1 ratio (2 drops of carrier oil to every 1 drop of essential oil). When mixing with your favorite skincare/cosmetics, remember a little goes a long way, perhaps 5 to 8 drops, as our essential oils are 100% pure, natural, and unrefined.

Everyone's skin reacts differently to different products. We suggest a patch test first. Before starting a new product, place a small amount on the inside of your elbow or wrist and wait 48 to 72 hours. If you do not notice redness, irritation, itching, or burning on that spot, it is okay for you to use.
