Have a Bug Free Summer with Essential Oils

The sun is out and the temperature is arising. Backyard get-togethers, camping, or sitting by a bonfire is always great until the uninvited decide to join. Prevent itchy bug bites and stings with nature's botanicals. Born with benefits, they are a great all-natural alternative to store-bought sprays, which contain harsh chemicals that may cause irritation.

Just by exposing skin outdoors, you fall at risk for mosquito bites, which bear many lethal diseases like malaria and dengue. Proper use of essential oils repels mosquitoes so you and your family can enjoy your time outdoors with peace of mind. With multiple essential oils to choose from, keep mosquitoes at bay to reduce the risk of blood-borne disease and prevent itchy bites with ease.

Lavender Oil to Keep Moths Away

Lavender Oil has always been one of my favorites; it’s extremely versatile and the benefits are endless. Lavender is best known for its positive effects in terms of relaxation and sleep, but what many people don’t know is that it also helps with the prevention of bug bites and infestations. The distinct lavender aroma can also be used as an alternative to mothballs in keeping moths and other insects away. It is suitable for allergy sufferers and people of all ages and skin types.

Peppermint Oil to Kill Insect Larvae

Peppermint Oil is one of our most popular. Its natural cooling properties are often used to soothe aches and pains. It also improves mental alertness, and its antidepressant properties help ease anxiety and stress. It not only has been shown to keep bugs away, but it kills many insect larvae before they can even hatch into full-grown insects. It has a strong aroma and is sought after in repelling various bugs including mosquitoes.

Multipurpose Repellant with Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is multipurpose and one of the top insect repellents. It not only has anti-fungal properties, but it can also protect and soothe painful bites from mosquitoes and bugs. Have pets and need to get rid of or prevent fleas and other parasites? Tea Tree is your go-to!

Sweet Smelling Lemongrass Oil Repellant

If you’re looking for a more pleasant summer scent, look no further. Lemongrass oil is a natural repellent because of its geraniol and citral content. High in insecticidal properties that repel mosquitoes and other insects, this oil is this season's must-haves.

How do I use essential oils as bug repellant?

Any of these oils can be used alone or blended to make your own custom homemade bug repellent. The vast majority of essential oils are too concentrated to apply directly to the skin alone and can cause serious irritation.

Always dilute any essential oil with a carrier oil prior to application. We recommend diluting with any of our carrier oils; Jojoba, Rosehip, Argan, or Fractionated Coconut Oil at a 2:1 ratio, 2 drops of carrier oil for every 1 drop of essential oil.

To prepare for any outing, dilute about 10 drops of essential oil (of your choice) and four ounces of witch hazel in a spray bottle and spray on skin and/or clothes. Distilled water may be added to the mix if desired.

Have fun under the sun without itching and scratching this summer and all-season long! Radha’s all-natural and pure essential oils are sure to be effective and promote positive overall health and wellness.
