My Ayurvedic Remedy for Cold Winds and Dry Skin

moisturiser with retinolI’m originally from Singapore. If you’ve never been there, let me tell you about it. It’s beautiful and warm and full of life and color. It’s also humid and rarely cold which was great for my skin. In so many ways, Singapore is really different from America. One thing that is really different is the weather! I didn’t play in snow as a child and snowstorms were something I only dreamt of. I used to imagine what a cold winter day would feel like. When I moved to America, I got a wakeup call and it was a cold one. I remember my first winter. I loved the warm coats and hot chocolate but my skin was not amused with the cold. It was dry and itchy and none of my beauty products at the time helped to ease this. I didn’t know that the cold would dry my skin. I also had no idea that indoor heating could steal moisture from my skin and hair. This left my skin and I both feeling irritated and dried out. I wanted solutions.

I’ve been here for years now and I’m used to the cold winter but as I get older I am even more interested in keeping my skin moisturized, especially during the colder months. This is when it needs it most. I now know that moisture helps skin to retain it’s elasticity which translates into less wrinkles and I am all about wrinkle prevention.

On really cold days, I use the Radha Beauty Anti-Aging Younger Face Moisturizer. This all natural skin product is infused with organic holy basil, organic gotu kola, organic Shea butter, and more all natural and organic ingredients! Together these botanical ingredients keep me smiling while the winds are blowing.

Holy basil is also known as Tulsi. In the Ayurvedic practice, it is often used in tonics to help prevent skin infection while preventing excess oil production. Holy Basil has antifungal, antibacterial, and antibiotic properties! The Vitamin C and Vitamin A in Holy Basil help to protect the skin from cellular damage and free radical damage. This herb is full of antioxidants and it helps to prevent premature aging!

Gotu Kola is also in the Anti-Aging Younger Face Moisturizer. This herb is native to my homeland and is also utilized in Ayurvedic practices. Gotu Kola has been found to help reduce swelling and improve blood flow. Healthy blood flow keeps skin looking and feeling young and healthy.

Helping to reduce fine lines & wrinkles while stimulating collagen production, the Radha Beauty Anti-Aging Younger Face Moisturizer is great on those really cold days! When I wear this, I feel like I have a caring barrier between my skin and the cold winds. Try it and see what I mean!

On days that are not as cold, I opt for the Baby Skin Moisturizer. It’s pH balanced formula is light and full of ingredients my skin loves. The organic Aloe Vera juice soothes, moisturizes, and relieves dryness while the other botanic ingredients are hard at work.

The Baby Skin Moisturizer is infused with organic lemongrass extract. A main compound in lemongrass is limonene. Limonene has been found to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria. While this moisturizer is softening my skin, it’s also fighting inflammation which is linked to premature aging and skin irritations like psoriasis and eczema! This natural skin product lets my skin breathe while protecting it. I have it on right now and it feels great on days like today.

I always love to fill my home with scents that are soothing and comforting. This is comforting for me, especially during the cold winter. It reminds me of my childhood and holidays with family. What scents remind you of good times?

I love filling my diffuser with our Clary Sage and Geranium essential oils on chilly days. This blend is soothing, comforting, and relaxing. You can find both of these in our new 16 piece set! I love it! Try blending the Clary Sage and Geranium. Tell us how you like it!

I am happy that I can share these natural options with you. They mean a lot to me and they have helped me so much. I am no longer afraid of winter days. Sophie and I bundle up and go handle business.
